Scarletts Work Weekend, 25-26 July
Ten members joined the working party and achieved an enormous amount in spite of the heat. We erected the Marquee, stripped down the abandoned trailer tent, set up the compost toilets area including digging and lining the liquids soakage trench, Ian used the ‘little grey fergie’ tractor to mow the camping area and to clear the 1.5m tall ferns for siting the toilets.

To quote Jon Sellers, our Chair:
‘Such a great crew! So much achieved; huge old school marquee up, another swathe of hedge completed with greenwood staves made on site, and some live hazel stands woven amongst it. A whole new compost toilet system in place with a long soak away dug and an area of ferns cleared (so have even more space available) The site layout was planned in some detail and it was agreed to add a lean-to on the metal shed for the tractor. Lovely food and great company around the fire on Saturday night. Some slept in hammocks with a dawn view over the valley as their reward. Lottery award signs up and their support paid for the weekend’s food. Big thanks for all the hard work, ingenuity and planning by the team.’
